Fantastic Hand Stripping Video

The "Bodie & Mrs Magoo" Blog is always great ... and this video is just so wonderful. It's hard for the average person to really understand snapshots of Hand Stripping. Watching it being done by hand (combs work too) in the way it's done here, de-mystifies the whole process. Hand Stripping is really not that hard and so many border owners sweat it unneccessarily. Watch this and have fun! Remember treats for your Border when it's all done!!

And you don't have to do it all in one night. For a week Bodie looks a bit like a patchwork quilt.

Thanks for the video! I have been searching for something like this for a long time. Would love to see one of the face. I never know how to tidy my BT's beard.

If you make a "fist" around your dogs snout that is about the area, in fact if you look under the chin there is usually an obvious black area, thats about where you stop. I just trim it a little as I prefer to leave it longer than the groomers do. If the beard has tinged black ends at the end of winter just trim off the black part. You can always take more off.

Thank you for the reply. I will try to do that next time. Last time I took him to a groomer to tidy his face after I had handstripped the rest of his body . He came back looking like a schnauzer. He completely lost the BT look. I need to learn how to do the face properly.

Hi! I see the video here, but is there one to borrow as well? I have never stripped Gizmo and i am really nervous about doing it the first time...

Are there any other resources you would recommend to help me out?

You can find Gizmo on Twitter @GizmoGeodog He loves making new friends

We find the limbs to be the hardest. Our Border struggles and absolutely hates it. Any suggestions? It just seems he's extra sensitive in these areas.

The legs and tum are the most sensitive areas. Make sure you always pull the hair out in the same direction it is growing and only a few bits at a time. I send Bodie to the groomer for the tummy area, if they are any good they know how to hold the skin taut so as not to hurt and also they often shave the belly area instead of pulling it out.
