Welcome Merry!

Border Joy!
Well, it's been 5 wks. since I went to Virginia and picked up my new pup (just for accuracy's sake - I was a Virginia vet when I acquired Doyle, but moved back up to Pennsylvania 10 yrs. ago - I live halfway between Harrisburg and Allentown in Pennsylvania Dutch country of Berks County, PA) Anyway, meet Penn Haven Merry Jane, Merry for short, because she is indeed merry.

Here she is her first night at home, looking a little overwhelmed.
She hit the ground running the next morning, though, intriguing my foxhound (note blurred wagging tail).

Here she is pissing off the cat, who taught her a thing or two right off the bat.
Since then, my life has not been my own, between her and the onset of the horse foaling/breeding season. Whoever determined that Thoroughbred horses' birthdays are all January 1st ought to be shot dead. It means that the mares start foaling in January, and we start working with them to rebreed by Feb. 15. In 3 ft. of snow, dark short days, and howling winds. This is NOT the time of year that small animal veterinarians envy me and my job. Not that I'm a complainer. In any event, I do not yet have a lot of pics of Merry on horse farms because it's just been too darn cold. She is practicing riding shotgun however whenever the weather allows:

Meanwhile, I've introduced her to many friends/clients and their canine cohorts, and she would tell you her life is one big party, I'm sure. She is NOT the laid back character that Doyle was - she has a motor, and she is MIGHTY, but she is a dear, and she fits very nicely into the spot where Doyle lived in my heart.
